We found the best family apartment in Granada and didn’t want to leave

Sometimes where we stay can make or break our vacation experience. I do a lot of research to make sure I pick the best place for my group, including reading all the reviews. Yet sometimes I am still surprised by what we actually find on arrival. While visiting the Alhambra in Granada, I was pleasantly surprised by our apartment from Bibo Suites Real Chancilleria. So much so, that I decided to share my experience. I was expecting it to be nice, but it was really really nice. I told Gary we should just stay here, forever. But alas, we only booked it for two nights.

Real Chancilleria Bibo Suites is in the best location for exploring Granada

Finding a place that fits our group is never easy. Given our kids’ ages, it is no longer ideal to have the sofa count as a bed. So when the 6 of us travel, I try my best to find accommodation with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The location is also important so that people can easily return to the apartment for a break. These factors, and a clean space with drains that actually drain and air that smells like good air, round out our wish list. However, we are also on a budget so sometimes there is a bit of a balancing act between wish list and price. I book our accommodations using Booking.com so I can see everything in one place and one App. When I was looking for accommodations in Granada, I found several suitable listings with awesome off-season prices. I had it narrowed down to two reservations with free cancellation, and eventually cancelled the other one, settling on Bibo Suites. Bibo Suites had good communication through the Booking.com app. We did have a little trouble upon arrival, as the bus directions told us to ride Bus 33 to the last stop, but that cost us about an hour (and gave us a scenic introduction to Granada). We should have gotten off the bus at the cathedral stop! I should’ve trusted my gut feeling when we passed through the historic center.

The apartment itself is clean, modern, and comfortable

Things were looking pretty good when we entered the building with our code. We did try the wrong door first. Bibo Suites has multiple apartments in the building and there are two entrances. We tried the first entrance that had the Bibo Suites name, but needed to walk down to the next door, where it also had the company’s name. Inside the lobby, the building was clean and smelled pleasant. There was a modern elevator, but we couldn’t all fit and our apartment was only on the second floor making the stairs more convenient. We entered the apartment also using keyless entry and were impressed by what we saw. It was spotlessly clean, smelled nice, and the furnishings and decorations were very modern. The apartment was spacious and fit our group perfectly. It also had the biggest flat screen TV we have seen in Europe in its living room. The kids liked this feature.

The apartment had the perfect touches

Not only was the apartment itself flawless, but it was well equipped. There was a free bottle of water on the dining table. The toiletries were from the European brand Rituals. The towels were heavy, thick and substantial white towels. The beds were comfortable with premium linens. The walls were tastefully decorated and accented with modern wallpaper. The kitchen had coffee capsules and all the basics we needed for our stay.

The apartment offered postcard views

The floor to ceiling windows from the living room and kitchen had beautiful views of the plaza below, as well as over to the Alcazaba tower of the Alhambra.

A video walk through of the apartment

I rarely take video footage on our trips as I prefer to snap a photo here or there throughout the day to capture memories. My lack of experience with this is going to show in the video below (sorry!). But because this apartment was so nice, I did make a little walk-through video for myself. I decided to share it here so you could get a better feel for it.

Heavenly smells of sweet roasted nuts from below

As an added bonus, Sabor a Espana just happens to be downstairs from the apartment. They are down there roasting nuts in cinnamon and sugar throughout the day. And this heavenly scent makes its way right up into the open windows of the apartment. It smells so good. And when we went down to see what smelled so good, the employees insisted we sample just about everything in the store. There are a lot of good treats in this store and we couldn’t help but stock our apartment with our favorites.

This perfect apartment only cost us $134 per night!

So as I mentioned previously, we booked this through Booking.com. We paid 247.04 EUR total for our stay, including cleaning and taxes. This was about $268 for our stay, or $134 per night. We did stay mid-week and we visited off-season in December. But sometimes I just find some good deals on Booking.com, as we have lucked out with comparable places and prices at other times of the year including summer. Bibo Suites manages multiple properties and has consistently high ratings on Booking.com across properties, so they might offer a better option for your group. If you don’t need three bedrooms and two bathrooms, it is possible you could get a better price on a smaller unit.

Booking.com generally charges us in Euros for our European reservations. Check out my post that covers how to pay in Euros without paying extra fees!
