Bab Mansour in Granada offers Moroccan, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern food. It offers a diverse and authentic menu, with a Moroccan ambiance. We found the interior beautifully decorated and our dining experience transported our tastebuds across the globe. The service was top notch too. Our waiter was attentive and made helpful suggestions. This was one of our favorite restaurants in the Andalusia region because it wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience. It is located on Calle Elvira in Granada, which is where you’ll find many Moroccan restaurants and teahouses.

Eating Moroccan food after our visit to Alhambra
We knew that Granada was a hub for excellent Moroccan food based on the research I had done. After our visit to the Alhambra, we wandered around the center looking for a Moroccan restaurant. I asked the host at the first restaurant we entered if they had any Moroccan food. He immediately told me “Elvira…” We needed to go to Calle Elvira to get good Moroccan food! It was five minutes away, and there were so many cute restaurants. We have little exposure to Moroccan food where we live in the Pacific Northwest, so this was exciting. We decided to try Bab Mansour. We were there in the afternoon in December and there was no wait.
I wanted to try everything but settled on the “tasting menu” posted outside Bab Mansour. I thought this would be a great way to try different things. We also decided to try the Moroccan tea service. We ordered both the Lebanese and Moroccan tasting menus; enough for everyone in our group but served family style so we could try items from both menus.

We ordered the Lebanese Tasting Menu
The Lebanese tasting menu especially appealed to the meat eaters in our family. The meat skewers were served on a plate of salad, and it came with a large “starter” plate with couscous, hummus, and other tasty treats. And of course, excellent bread.
We ordered the Moroccan Tasting Menu
The Moroccan tasting menu was also excellent. The selection of dips and salad was popular with everyone in our group. We had more than one of these, and everything was quickly devoured with our bread. The beef couscous and vegetables was also very good. I might have been the only person who liked the Moroccan chicken tart, although everyone tried it and ate some. I think the sweet and flavorful spiced meat was a new concept to them and they weren’t sure if they liked it.

We enjoyed our food at Bab Mansour!
We only ate at two restaurants on Calle Elvira during our 48-hour visit to Granada. I can’t say whether Bab Mansour is the “best” Moroccan food. However, I can say that the next time I am in Granada, I will return here knowing it is a safe bet for great food, atmosphere, and service.
